Sandbox

A sandbox application lets you build and test an integration with no real customer, no real number and no message sent.

These examples use a placeholder address. Your console shows the exact address of the API for your workspace.

What the sandbox does#

  • It never calls Meta and never reads real customer data.
  • GET /connections returns two fixed connections, and every connection has two fixed templates.
  • POST /messages accepts a send. The message moves from queued to sent to delivered on a timer, and the matching message.status_updated events are queued to your sandbox endpoints.
  • Sandbox webhook endpoints only receive synthetic events: the ones you ask for with POST /sandbox/events or the Send test event button.
  • The per-minute limits are the same as live. There is no daily send cap.

The fixed data#

Both connections have the quality rating GREEN, waba_id sandbox-waba and livemode: false.

How a send behaves#

  • A text message is always inside the 24-hour window.
  • The status follows the age of the message: queued for the first 2 seconds, sent from 2 to 5 seconds, delivered from 5 seconds on.
  • A to number ending in 0000 simulates a failure: the status is failed with the error code recipient_unreachable.

Synthetic events#

POST /sandbox/events takes the type of any webhook event except developer.application.created and queues one synthetic event to the active sandbox endpoints of the application that subscribe to it. A live key gets 403 sandbox_only.

curl -X POST "https://api.vendrix.net/v1/sandbox/events" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $VENDRIX_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "type": "message.received"
  }'

A synthetic message.received comes from +237600000099 with the text “Bonjour, c'est un test.” on the first sandbox connection.
